Open Quantum Challenge: Two Quantum Seasons, No Quantum Hardware Required
aiquantumbenchmarksscience
TL;DR
The Open Quantum Challenge (OQC) is a vendor-neutral quantum benchmark you can enter with a GPU and an open harness. No quantum computer is needed.
Two seasons
| Season | Task | Metric | Closes | Prize |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Quantum simulation: Fermi-Hubbard ground-state energy | Lowest total ground-state energy across all systems | 2027-02-28 | USD 1,000 |
| 2 | QEC decoder: rotated surface code, d=5, p=0.005, circuit-level | Logical error rate | 2027-03-31 | USD 1,000 |
Each season pays 600, 300 and 100 dollars to the top three.
The verifier
Submissions go into a private ledger. A GPU-side worker scores each one against a frozen private answer key and writes the rolled-up leaderboard back. Inputs are public in FINAL-Bench/oqc-data; the answers are not.
